+ How do I know if online tutoring will work for my child?

After tutoring students in-person for six years, I discovered that online tutoring is often MORE effective. Students feel more comfortable working in the comfort of their home, and find sessions highly interactive & fun.

+ How long will my child need tutoring?

The length of time needed depends on what you would like your child to accomplish through tutoring. Are you hoping that your child will walk away from tutoring more confident & self-sufficient? In most cases, this result can be achieved within 4 - 8 months.

+Do you tutor students who do not have ADD/ADHD?

Yes, I do! I specialize in working with students who learn differently! Regardless of any labels.

+ How often do you want to meet with my child?

I meet with students either once or twice a week. After our consultation, I will give my recommendations on how often to meet.

+ How long does each session last?

Each session lasts between 35 to 45 minutes. I do not give an exact time as it will depend on what we are learning and how your child is doing.

Some days your child may be upset or distracted and we may finish sooner. This works great for kids with ADHD as well as managing strong emotions can impact their attention!

+ How do I set-up my computer for online tutoring?

Prior to the first session, I provide detailed instructions (with pictures!) on how to set up and join the meeting.

+ How does online tutoring work?

All you need is a high-speed internet connection and computer with a webcam. I use the video calling software called Zoom, in addition to an online whiteboard, known as BitPaper.

BitPaper works best with the Google Chrome browser.

Prior to our first session, please make sure you have an updated version of Chrome.

+ How much does tutoring cost?

Pricing is based on a monthly payment plan. More information on pricing can be found here.

+ Do you offer any discounts for your services?

Occasionally, I may offer special promotions on my services. To stay up to date on any promotions, please visit facebook.com/myteachtutoring.

Aside from that, I do not offer any discounts. As a private tutor, I am responsible for all the costs of running and operating my business! For that reason, I need to charge accordingly with the work I am doing.

I recognize that my pricing does not fit every family's budget. Which is why I enjoy creating free content on my social media pages and Facebook community. Through these outlets, families get access to helpful tips & strategies for free.

+ How does payment work?

I collect all payment through Square. More details are provided in the new parent welcome letter.

+ Cancellations

If you need to cancel a session for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible. I require 24 hours' notice for cancellation. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours may not be rescheduled. Exceptions may be made in case of emergency.

+ No-Shows

If you know know your child will be late to a session for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible.

Any missed time during the session due to the student's late arrival will not be made up.

A student that does not arrive within 10 minutes of the scheduled time will be considered a "no-show". A "No-Show" will be treated the same as a late cancellation. These sessions cannot be rescheduled and a refund will not be provided.

+ Rescheduling

Since all sessions are prepaid, I do not provide refunds for cancelled sessions. Instead, your paid credit will be applied towards our next scheduled session.

+ Expected Absences

If you know in advance that you will need to miss a session due to a vacation, medical appointment, or other reason, please let me know at least two weeks in advance so I can adjust accordingly.

If at any time either the parent or tutor decides to discontinue tutoring for any reason, unused sessions will be refunded.

+ Are you a certified teacher?

Yes! I have my Illinois Professional Educator License with a Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement. I have a master’s degree in special education.

+ What sets your services apart from other tutors?

I do not have a “one size fits all” method of teaching. I want to equip your child with strategies that work effectively for them.

My mission is for your child to be independent and confident, so that a tutor will no longer be necessary.

You will not find the same level of customization (or expertise!) by hiring a large tutoring company, or by hiring a college student.
