How I Make Money Blogging (even with low traffic!)

If you’ve ever thought, “Isn’t blogging dead?” or wondered how people still make money from a blog in 2025, let me break down the exact process I use (and why it has nothing to do with viral page views or running endless ads).

The Mindset Shift: Blogging Isn’t Dead (And You Don’t Need to Be Everywhere)

Let’s get the biggest myth out of the way: Blogging is not dead. I know it’s easy to look around and think that everyone’s on TikTok, Instagram, or chasing the next viral trend. But here’s a little secret: When people want answers—and especially when they’re ready to buy something—they Google it. And what comes up? Blog posts.

I used to think blogging was outdated too. A mom I know recently told me, “I just want to do TikTok because attention spans are short.” I totally get it, and I respect anyone’s preference. But for me? Long-form, “evergreen” content like blogs and full YouTube videos last years online and work for you while you sleep.

You don’t have to dance for the algorithm or try to be on every platform. I completely deleted Instagram, TikTok, and even Facebook. Now I just use YouTube, my blog, and an email list—and guess what? That’s when I started making $1,000-$3,000/month, consistently and without feeling like I’m glued to my phone.

Forget Page Views and Ads: The Blog Money Secret No One Talks About

A lot of “how to make money blogging” advice pushes you to chase traffic so you can slap a bunch of ads on your site. Honestly? I think that looks tacky and distracts from your actual content. Why spend hours writing something useful, only to tell your reader to click away on some random ad for toothpaste?

Here’s what I do instead: I focus on the readers who are already searching for solutions. Not just anyone landing on my blog, but the person who’s ready to buy. It’s not about getting 1,000,000 page views—it’s about getting 10 of the right people, who are ready to take action.

My Simple 3-Step Blogging Process (That Actually Works in 2025)

1. Pick Your Person (and Their Problem) I primarily help busy moms (just like me) who want to start a side hustle during naptime or while their kids are at preschool. You want to pick one person and focus on the biggest problem you can help them solve. For me, that’s everything from how to teach your child to read (my “Teach Your Child to Read” blog brings in tons of affiliate sales) to how to start making money online.

2. Create Helpful Long-Form Content My content strategy isn’t complicated. I’ll choose a topic to help my audience, like reviewing a course or tool I genuinely use. For example, if you took a course on crocheting baby blankets that changed everything for you, your ideal reader might be searching for, “Is XYZ crochet course worth it?” That’s the perfect moment when YOU can step in and say, “Here’s my honest review, my results, and here’s where you can get it.”

3. Repurpose and Automate I make a YouTube video about the topic and then use an AI tool called CastMagic to turn that video into a polished blog post. I post the blog with my affiliate links—meaning, if someone clicks and buys, I get a commission at no extra cost to them. My content now works for me 24/7, showing up both in Google search and on YouTube.

Why Affiliate Marketing Beats Casting a Wide Net

You might think, “Why not just list a bunch of affiliate links and hope something sticks?” I tried that. I posted roundups of all the online course platforms I’d used (with affiliate links galore) and… crickets. But when I focus on reviewing one or two actually helpful, relevant products my audience is already searching for, that’s when the sales come in.

For example, my “Teach Your Child to Read” content brings parents who are literally looking for a solution; giving them a genuine recommendation is helpful and profitable—for both of us.

The Bottom Line: Less Content, More Value

You don’t need to start from scratch or try to do everything. Stop spreading yourself thin with social media or running a free Facebook group that drains your energy and gives nothing back. Focus on sharing your real, useful experiences in blog posts and videos (even if you only have a little time per day!).

Remember: It’s not about mass traffic—it’s about helping real people solve real problems, and recommending tools you trust.
