Why I Quit Linkedin
So I've been pretty vocal about the fact that I think social media can be a time-waster. While it has generated sales for me in the past, if I compare the time/energy invested in platforms like Instagram & Facebook vs. how much I made in revenue, it definitely wasn't worth the time I was putting into it. Not only this, but it was actually having a negative impact on my mental health, because I found myself comparing myself to other creators.
I did decide to give Linkedin another chance this year, thinking that it could be a good way for people to see my "resume" or basically just a breakdown of all my previous work experience. I've heard from other business owners that it is a great place to network and get sponsorship opportunities. So whenever I posted content to the YouTube community tab, I would post the same post to Linkedin.
I started tracking link clicks from Linkedin and who was actually visiting my website. I discovered that I have only had ONE VISITOR in the past 30 days.
Website Visitors & Sources, only one visitor from Linkedin
This was enough information to tell me that, in relation to the time I was putting it to post to Linkedin (and the added mental energy of - was this good enough? why am i getting 0 engagement? is this a waste?) it just wasn't worth it.
So now I have a clearer picture of what to prioritize in 2025 -- my youtube channel, blog, and email newsletter! Because those are what are generating sales.
Now this is just my experience, but I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one! Social media is designed to keep you on the platform as long as possible. They don't want people clicking off their site and onto your website. So if I can create content on my own website and promote products directly through there, that works better!
I hope this behind the scenes was helpful for you.
