Frequently Asked Questions
My child does not have ADHD. Can he or she still benefit from tutoring?
Absolutely! What sets my tutoring apart from others is that I specialize in working with students that learn differently.
How do I know online tutoring will work for my child?
Most children nowadays have been exposed to technology at a very young age, and find it very easy to tutor online. In fact, I have found that my students are actually more comfortable in an online setting than in person!
How long will my child need tutoring?
The length of time needed depends on what you would like your child to accomplish as a result of tutoring. I have students I work with for 6 months and some I work with for a year or more. It depends on your child’s needs as well as your goals!
How often do you want to meet with my child?
I meet with students either once or twice a week. For new students, I recommend starting with one session so they can become more familiar with online tutoring. Then, after a few weeks of practice, we decide if a second session would be beneficial.
How long does each session last?
At this time, I offer 45 minute and 30 minute session lengths. A custom package can be created if needed!
How do I set-up my computer for online tutoring?
During our initial consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to experience an online session. Beforehand, I will provide detailed instructions (with pictures!) on how to set up a session and how to join in at the time of the meeting.
What does online tutoring look like?

How does online tutoring work?
These sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. All you need is a high-speed internet connection and computer with a webcam. I use the video calling software called Zoom, in addition to an online whiteboard, known as BitPaper.
BitPaper works best with the Google Chrome browser. Prior to our first session, please make sure you have an updated version of Chrome.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Unfortunately, I do not offer in-person sessions during the school year.
Rates and Payment
What are your rates?
Sessions are purchased as either a 4-session or 8-session package.
4 Session Package (30 min each) - $150
8 Session Package (30 min each) - $300
4 Session Package (45 min each) - $200
8 Session Package (45 min each) - $400
How does payment work?
I collect all payment through Square. More details are provided in the new parent welcome letter.
Cancellations: If you need to cancel a session for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible. I require 24 hours' notice for cancellation. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours may not be rescheduled. Exceptions may be made in case of emergency.
Rescheduling: Since all sessions are prepaid, I do not provide refunds for cancelled sessions. Instead, your paid credit will be applied towards our next scheduled session.
Expected Absences: If you know in advance that you will need to miss a session due to a vacation, medical appointment, or other reason, please let me know at least two weeks in advance so I can adjust accordingly.
If at any time either the parent or tutor decides to discontinue tutoring for any reason, unused sessions will be refunded.
Are you a certified teacher?
Yes! I have my Illinois Professional Educator License with a Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement. I have a master’s degree in special education.
What’s the benefit of hiring a professional tutor?
I adapt my instruction to the way your child learns best. I do not have a “one size fits all” method of teaching. I want to equip your child with strategies that work effectively for them. Ultimately, my mission is for your child to be independent and confident, so that a tutor will no longer be necessary.
You will not find the same level of customization (or expertise!) by hiring a large tutoring company, or by hiring a college student.
